ARTS444: Interaction 2 Spring 2021

Overview:

This course is about interaction in the context of cultural production, with an emphasis on the creation of digital–artworks, and artworks created through code and code–based systems. Whereas in Interaction I we quickly surveyed a number of technologies, methods, and histories through prototyping and visualization, with this class we will explore code and documentation methods to realize sophisticated project concepts. Technically, we'll learn and work with p5.js as our primary coding toolkit. Students will develop a strong introductory understanding of computer programming concepts and will use those skills to sketch out ideas and prototypes that exist in realized spatial and experiential environments, virtual environments and device-based platforms.
